On the Torsion of Chow Groups of Severi-brauer Varieties

In this paper, we generalize a result of Karpenko on the torsion in the second quotient of the gamma filtration for Severi-Brauer varieties to higher degrees. As an application, we provide a nontrivial torsion in higher Chow groups and the topological filtration of the associated generic variety and obtain new upper bounds for the annihilators of the torsion subgroups in the Chow groups of a la...

Brauer Groups

I define the Brauer group of a field k as similarity classes of central simple algebras over k. Then I introduce non-abelean cohomology and use it to prove that the Brauer group is isomorphic to a certain cohomology group. Brauer groups show up in global class field theory.

A relative extending module and torsion precovers

We first characterize $tau$-complemented modules with relative (pre)-covers. We also introduce an extending module relative to $tau$-pure submodules on a hereditary torsion theory $tau$ and give its relationship with $tau$-complemented modules.

Torsion Subgroups of Brauer Groups and Extensions of Constant Local Degree for Global Function Fields

We show that, for all characteristic p global fields k and natural numbers n coprime to the order of the non–p–part of the Picard group Pic0(k) of k, there exists an abelian extension L/k whose local degree at every prime of k is equal to n. This answers in the affirmative in this context a question recently posed by Kisilevsky and Sonn. As a consequence, we show that, for all n and k as above,...

Equivariant Brauer groups and cohomology ✩

In this paper we present a cohomological description of the equivariant Brauer group relative to a Galois finite extension of fields endowed with the action of a group of operators. This description is a natural generalization of the classic Brauer–Hasse–Noether’s theorem, and it is established by means of a three-term exact sequence linking the relative equivariant Brauer group, the 2nd cohomo...
